In humbleness my husband I and thank God because we will celebrate this Thanksgiving with an overflow of blessings. God has done a great work in our family. He has removed our pain, and then healed us. After eight years of distressful trial over our son’s death, the Lord brought our family back together again. We celebrate God’s goodness in answering many years of prayers. For us this year is a time of hope, refreshment, and restoration. We acknowledge God’s care sent from our beneficent Father. Thankfully we receive all He has promised.
What are the things you are thankful for this Thanksgiving? This is a day to think about God’s love, and the privilege of being called His very own. If you love Jesus then you are the recipient of manifolds of blessings. Are you aware of countless things you’ve been granted? Things not earned by any measure of your own effort of works but graciously given…freely! Clearly, as sure as fall shows all its colors, you can count an abundance of blessings that makes your life full and satisfying. May your heart overflow with gratitude as you reverently honor God this Thanksgiving?
Thank Him for His abounding loving-kindness and mercy!
So now, let’s count some of the many blessings God has bestowed on you; If by faith you have received Christ you are His child. Christ made restitution as you believe on His name. He redeemed you from sin and punishment. You are sealed, preserved, and saved by God. (Romans 10: 9-13) Christ now lives in you. Do you realize the salvation you’ve been given? It is an inheritance that is imperishable like truths that are not likely to be forgotten; it endures forever. You are forever secure, protected, and kept by God’s great power. (1 Peter 1: 4, 5) And there is more! God has given you everything pertaining to life and godliness through knowledge of Himself. (2 Peter 1: 3, 4) Oh, how thankful we ought to be! God manifested Himself to us fragile yet sinful people. He granted you precious promises to keep you safe and sound. Secure from pervasive evil. You my friend have been given the privilege to partake and share in the life of God. His Spirit dwells in you – convicting of unbelief and sin and convincing you to have greater faith. The indwelling Spirit leads, guides, counsels, and will steer you into right living…where happiness is found.
What is most important? What is of essences? What is the necessity of life? Christ! By the blood of Christ and His sacrifice on the cross He has forgiven your sins.
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus so that…He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2: 4-10)
The church is Christ’s bride and is forever objects of His eternal love. So then, let this day of Thanksgiving become a special time of thanking God for His goodness to you. May you be reflective of your past when God did an amazing work and may it cultivate a thankful heart? Consider God’s love. Think about His kindness. Consider God’s benevolent hand and all He’s done! May we all have hearts that swell with gratitude!
Gracious Father, this Thanksgiving we humble ourselves bowing before Your throne. We adore You by giving You the reverence You alone deserve. We lift the name of Your Son, Jesus who is most worthy to be adored. We thank You for Your goodness both spiritually and in the grace You supply. Thank You for peace and spiritual prosperity that lead us to a fuller, richer life. Amen.
